How it works
- Add the paper. Paste an arXiv URL or upload the manuscript directly.
- Pay for the run. $5 per instrument run through Stripe.
- Pith reads it. Three independent referee passes, a load-bearing claim ledger, and reference checks, usually in 3 to 6 minutes.
- Read your report. Private by default. Publish it, keep it, or submit it later for a pre-print record.

Trust and limitations
- $5 per instrument run, usually 3 to 6 minutes. Private by default. Rubric and hard floors are public at /journal/policy.
- The fee buys the instrument run, never the verdict. Payment cannot improve a score; adverse recommendations are not refunded.
- We audit; we never ghostwrite. Pith does not edit your manuscript or draft rebuttals for you.
- Overlap candidates are not plagiarism findings. They flag prior-art overlap for author review.
- AI-artifact flags are not authorship detection. They catch concrete unchecked-generation defects, not stylometry.
- Journal fit is not an acceptance forecast. Fit tiers describe venue alignment, not submission odds.
- How this instrument can be wrong: referee-model sections can miss context, overstate confidence, or fail on scanned PDFs; resolver checks only cover extracted bibliography entries; claim status notes mix deterministic and model judgment.
Become a Pith Reviewer
Scientists spent 100 million hours refereeing in 2020. In the US alone, that work was worth $1.5 billion, but journals paid reviewers nothing.[1] Pith is where it stops being free. You set your rate. We send the papers.
How it works
- Apply in about ten minutes. Link your ORCID, pick your fields, name your price and turnaround time.
- We send you papers. You accept or decline. Authors, editors, readers, and institutions request reviews; we match on field. Nothing is assigned over your head: every paper is an offer.
- You review, sign, and get paid. You write the review on the paper, sign it anonymously, and publish it. The buyer pays your listed rate; Pith deducts its 5% fee from your payout.
- What you sign publishes, whatever it concludes. A negative verdict pays the same as a positive one. Your record, under a verified pen name, grows with every honest review.
