abstract

We consider a nonlinear evolution equation recently proposed to describe the small-$x$ hadronic physics in the regime of very high gluon density. This is a functional Fokker-Planck equation in terms of a classical random color source, which represents the color charge density of the partons with large $x$. In the saturation regime of interest, the coefficients of this equation must be known to all orders in the source strength. In this first paper of a series of two, we carefully derive the evolution equation, via a matching between classical and quantum correlations, and set up the framework for the exact background source calculation of its coefficients. We address and clarify many of the subtleties and ambiguities which have plagued past attempts at an explicit construction of this equation. We also introduce the physical interpretation of the saturation regime at small $x$ as a Color Glass Condensate. In the second paper we shall evaluate the expressions derived here, and compare them to known results in various limits.

Sub-eikonal Structure of High-Energy Deep-Inelastic Scattering

hep-ph · 2026-03-24 · unverdicted · novelty 7.0

Sub-eikonal corrections to dipole structure functions F_L, F_T and the g1-related asymmetry are derived in a gauge-invariant dipole operator basis, with F_L shown to be finite and the others logarithmically divergent.

Unpolarized GPDs at small $x$ and non-zero skewness

hep-ph · 2025-12-10 · unverdicted · novelty 7.0

Unpolarized GPDs and GTMDs at small x with non-zero skewness are expressed via the dipole amplitude N and odderon O with modified rapidity Y = ln min{1/|x|, 1/|ξ|}.

Squeezed-state radiation in shockwave scattering: QCD-Gravity double copy

hep-th · 2026-05-04 · unverdicted · novelty 7.0

The n-particle gluon radiation spectrum in shockwave scattering is a generalized Susskind-Glogower squeezed coherent state, and multi-graviton radiation follows similarly via double copy, with feasible large squeezing parameters ~ln(n_bar) leading to enhanced quantum noise in gravitational wave sp

Forward trijet production in proton-nucleus collisions: gluon initiated channel

hep-ph · 2026-04-08 · unverdicted · novelty 7.0

The gluon-initiated trijet channel in forward pA collisions is calculated at leading order in CGC, revealing a four-gluon vertex structure matching instantaneous terms and showing how rapidity and collinear divergences feed into JIMWLK evolution and PDF/FF kernels.

Kinetic and canonical momentum broadening in the Glasma

hep-ph · 2026-04-09 · unverdicted · novelty 6.0

Derives gauge-invariant equations of motion for kinetic and canonical momentum of particles in a classical non-Abelian background, finding that transverse fields contribute to kinetic momentum broadening even in the eikonal limit, and shows that an initial transverse Coulomb gauge reduces numerical

On the Two $R$-Factors in the Small-$x$ Shockwave Formalism

hep-ph · 2026-04-27 · unverdicted · novelty 5.0

Replacing the rapidity argument of the dipole amplitude with ln min{1/|x|, 1/|ξ|} and refining initial conditions for non-linear evolution can eliminate two R-factors in small-x shockwave calculations.
