abstract
These are pedagogical lecture notes on hydrodynamic fluctuations in normal relativistic fluids. The lectures discuss correlation functions of conserved densities in thermal equilibrium, interactions of the hydrodynamic modes, an effective action for viscous fluids, and the breakdown of the derivative expansion in hydrodynamics.

A general framework for incorporating arbitrary nonequilibrium corrections into linear non-radial relativistic stellar perturbations without specifying constitutive relations.
Any stand-alone dissipative hydrodynamic EFT is acausal; causal UV completions exist that preserve the exact IR hydrodynamic mode for subluminal sound speed and finite gradient-expansion radius.
Proves equivalence of redundant Goldstone and adjoint-matter formulations of SK EFTs for non-Abelian symmetries and extends both to all orders in ħω/T while classifying invariant kernels under DKMS and unitarity.
A method using ultra-high boost stability analysis and gamma-suppression derives necessary causality conditions for relativistic hydrodynamics, demonstrated in conformal Muller-Israel-Stewart theory.
Landau singularity analysis of two-point functions in Schwinger-Keldysh EFTs identifies nonlinear relaxation modes that produce power-law late-time decay when gapless modes are present.
A new prescription computes the dissipative action for holographic hydrodynamics in AdS4 to first order in derivatives and reproduces known Green's functions via horizon diffeomorphisms.
Analytic computation via kinetic theory of retarded current-current correlators in magnetized relativistic plasma, with transverse charge diffusion scaling as 1/B0^2 while longitudinal diffusion is unaffected.
Holographic models of quantum critical 2D systems with zero-average periodic potentials show better conductivity, bad-metal electrical but Drude-like thermal transport, and approximately B-linear magnetoresistance.
Establishes a holographic link between bulk gravitational radiation and dissipative corrections plus entropy production in boundary fluids, then constructs Carrollian analogues and celestial observables in the flat limit.
Authors derive new Kubo formulae for transport coefficients by analyzing analytic structures of stress-energy response functions in second- and third-order hydrodynamics.
Causal viscous relativistic hydrodynamics applied to neutron stars yields new axial mode families without perfect-fluid counterparts, including mode avoidance and long-lived modes.
The authors extend a generally covariant formalism to include diffusion of conserved charges and comment on the seeming difference between the chemical potential term and the diffusion term.
Spacetime-symmetry-breaking Goldstone EFTs systematically describe bulk and localized excitations of solids, fluids, and superfluids, with new thermodynamic identifications and corrected scattering rates.
Non-conformal deformation via Einstein-dilaton gravity increases the radius of convergence of the derivative expansion for gapped quasinormal modes of a scalar operator in the holographic dual.
Lectures summarizing the construction of hydrodynamic EFTs through strong-to-weak symmetry breaking, with examples from spin chains to relativistic QFTs and UV/IR constraints on transport coefficients.
