The non-equilibrium evolution of the block entanglement entropy is investigated in the XY chain in a transverse magnetic field after the Hamiltonian parameters are suddenly changed from and to arbitrary values. Using Toeplitz matrix representation and multidimensional phase methods, we provide analytic results for large blocks and for all times, showing explicitly the linear growth in time followed by saturation. The consequences of these analytic results are discussed and the effects of a finite block length is taken into account numerically.

  1. Temporal Entanglement from Twist Correlators in 2d Conformal Field Theory and Holography

    hep-th 2026-07 conditional novelty 7.0 of 10

Timelike entanglement entropy in 2d CFT is defined by time-ordered twist correlators, whose holographic saddles are complex geodesics with smallest real length, and whose imaginary part counts causal-diamond crossings...

  2. Entanglement of Inhomogeneous Free Bosons and Orthogonal Polynomials

    cond-mat.stat-mech 2025-05 conditional novelty 6.0 of 10

For inhomogeneous free-boson chains, the leading entanglement entropy is (a*/6) log N, where a* is the scaling exponent of the region where the local potential vanishes.

  3. Time Evolution of the Symmetry Resolved Entanglement Entropy after a Mass Quench

    hep-th 2025-02 conditional novelty 6.0 of 10

For a mass quench in the Ising field theory, the Z2-resolved Rényi entropies grow linearly at the same rate as the total entropy, with subleading oscillatory corrections now computed analytically via composite twist fields.
