The standard perturbative effective potential suffers from two related problems of principle involving the field-dependent Goldstone boson squared mass, G. First, in general G can be negative, and it actually is negative in the Standard Model; this leads to imaginary contributions to the effective potential that are not associated with a physical instability, and therefore spurious. Second, in the limit that G approaches zero, the effective potential minimization condition is logarithmically divergent already at two-loop order, and has increasingly severe power-law singularities at higher loop orders. I resolve both issues by resumming the Goldstone boson contributions to the effective potential. For the resulting resummed effective potential, the minimum value and the minimization condition that gives the vacuum expectation value are obtained in forms that do not involve G at all.

  1. Bare effective potential and Goldstone boson anti-resummation

    hep-ph 2026-08 conditional novelty 7.0 of 10

Treating Goldstone-boson squared masses as interaction vertices instead of propagator masses eliminates spurious infrared logarithms and imaginary parts, giving a consistent three-loop tadpole-free effective potential...

  2. Three-loop corrections to the Fermi decay constant in the $\overline{\rm{MS}}$ scheme

    hep-ph 2025-07 conditional novelty 7.0 of 10

The leading three-loop corrections to the Fermi decay constant in the pure MS scheme are computed, shifting the Standard Model Higgs VEV down by about 3.5 MeV and cutting residual scale dependence to below 2e-6.

  3. Unveiling the inert Triplet desert region with a pNGB Dark Matter and its Gravitational Wave signatures

    hep-ph 2025-05 conditional novelty 6.0 of 10

A two-component dark matter model combining an inert scalar triplet with a pseudo-Goldstone singlet revives the sub-TeV triplet desert region and predicts gravitational waves detectable by LISA, BBO, and DECIGO.

  4. Gauge Choices, Infrared Pitfalls, and Thermal Effects in Effective Potentials

    hep-th 2025-07 conditional novelty 5.0 of 10

Including a multiplicative anomaly or using the Heat Kernel method makes the one-loop effective potential in the Fermi gauge independent of the gauge parameter and improves its infrared behaviour, also at finite temperature.

  5. Loop-corrected Trilinear Higgs Self-Couplings in the NMSSM with Inverse Seesaw Mechanism

    hep-ph 2025-06 conditional novelty 5.0 of 10

Loop corrections from inverse-seesaw neutrinos and sneutrinos can change the SM-like Higgs self-coupling by up to 10.5% and the SM-like Higgs mass by up to 4.5% in the NMSSM with inverse seesaw.

  6. Gamma-Rays and Gravitational Waves from Inelastic Higgs Portal Dark Matter

    hep-ph 2025-07 conditional novelty 4.0 of 10

An inelastic complex-scalar Higgs portal dark matter model can evade direct detection, explain the Galactic Center gamma-ray excess, and produce a first-order electroweak phase transition with a gravitational wave sig...
