abstract

We derive constraints on mixed dark-matter scenarios consisting of primordial black holes (PBHs) and weakly interacting massive particles (WIMPs). In these scenarios, we expect a density spike of the WIMPs that are gravitationally bound to the PBHs, which results in an enhanced annihilation rate and increased indirect detection prospects. We show that such scenarios provide strong constraints on the allowed fraction of PBHs that constitutes the dark matter, depending on the WIMP mass $m_{\chi}$ and the velocity-averaged annihilation cross-section $\langle \sigma v \rangle$. For the standard scenario with $m_{\chi} = 100\,{\rm GeV}$ and $\langle \sigma v \rangle = 3 \times 10^{-26}\,{\rm cm}^{3} / {\rm s}$, we derive bounds that are stronger than all existing bounds for PBHs with masses $10^{-12}\,M_{\odot} \lesssim M_{\rm BH} \lesssim 10^{4}\,M_{\odot}$, where $M_{\odot}$ is the solar mass, and mostly so by several orders of magnitude.

  1. In-depth analysis of the clustering of dark matter particles around primordial black holes. Part II. Analytical prescriptions for spikes

    astro-ph.HE 2025-11 conditional novelty 6.0 of 10

A 'soft' analytical approximation reproduces PBH minispike densities and annihilation rates to ~±15%, and shows that a discovered sub-solar PBH population would strongly constrain s-wave WIMP dark matter.

  2. Constraining the Coexistence of Primordial Black Holes and Particle Dark Matter with Neutrino Observations

    hep-ph 2026-07 conditional novelty 5.0 of 10

A refined halo model turns neutrino-telescope data into upper limits on the primordial-black-hole fraction f_PBH, reaching ~10^-8 in some mass ranges for mixed WIMP/FIMP scenarios.

  3. Constraining primordial black holes and primordial curvature power spectrum with extragalactic muon neutrino

    astro-ph.CO 2026-07 conditional novelty 4.0 of 10

    Neutrino flux from WIMP annihilation in PBH-seeded UCMHs yields f_PBH ≲ 4×10^{-5} (strongest) and P_R ≲ 10^{-1.65} at k∼3×10^{12} Mpc^{-1}.
