A simple one-parameter generalization of the Schwarzschild spacetime was recently suggested by A. Simpson and M. Visser [JCAP 1902, 042 (2019)] as a toy model describing the regular black hole and traversable wormhole states separated by the border (one-way wormhole) state. We study quasinormal modes of all the three states and show that the black-hole/wormhole transition is characterized by echoes, while the remnant of the black hole state is kept in the time-domain profile of the wormhole perturbation at the initial stage of the exponential fall off. Calculations of quasinormal modes using the WKB method with Pad\'{e} expansion and the time-domain integration are in good agreement. An analytical formula governing quasinormal modes in the eikonal regime is given.

  1. Transition from Regular Black Holes to Wormholes in Covariant Effective Quantum Gravity: Scattering, Quasinormal Modes, and Hawking Radiation

    gr-qc 2025-02 conditional novelty 6.0 of 10

For a quantum-corrected spacetime, the fundamental quasinormal mode differs little from Schwarzschild, higher overtones deviate significantly, and wormhole states have extremely long-lived modes.

Numerical greybody factors for photons and massless Dirac fields in Simpson-Visser and Casadio-Fabbri-Mazzacurati geometries reveal that WKB overestimates luminosities by orders of magnitude near wormhole endpoints, i...

  3. Echoes and quasinormal modes for static loop quantum black bounces

    gr-qc 2026-07 conditional novelty 4.0 of 10

Scalar perturbations of the loop quantum black bounce spacetime produce echoes in traversable-wormhole configurations with a double-barrier effective potential, but not in regular-black-hole configurations with a sing...
