This is an update of the two articles (H.Y. Cheng, 2009; Cheng, 2015) in which charmed baryon physics around 2007 and 2015, respectively, were reviewed. In this review we emphasize the experimental progress and the theoretical development since 2015.

  1. Quantum numbers of excited $\Xi_c^\prime$ and $\Omega_c$ baryons and the $P$-wave $\Sigma_c$ spectrum

    hep-ph 2026-07 conditional novelty 6.0 of 10

    The excited Ξ_c and Ω_c baryons share successive J^P = 1/2^-, 3/2^-, 3/2^-, 5/2^- λ-mode assignments, with Ω_c(3119) as a ρ-mode 3/2^- state and four P-wave Σ_c states predicted inside existing structures.

  2. Radiative decays of $P$-wave charmed baryons in the $SU(3)$ flavor $\bf6_F$ representation

    hep-ph 2025-06 conditional novelty 6.0 of 10

The authors predict radiative decay widths for all P-wave charmed baryons in the 6F representation, and propose Omega_c gamma channels as the best route to identify the excited Omega_c states seen at LHCb.

  3. Data determination of HQET parameters in inclusive charm decays

    hep-ph 2025-02 conditional novelty 6.0 of 10

The first data-driven determination of the HQET parameters mu_pi^2, mu_G^2, rho_D^3 and rho_LS^3 for D0, D+ and Ds mesons is obtained from inclusive semileptonic decay widths and electron energy moments.

  4. Low-lying singly heavy baryon states based on the rigorous calculation with the relativized quark model

    hep-ph 2026-07 conditional novelty 5.0 of 10

A quark-model calculation with rigorous orbital mixing reproduces 74 singly heavy baryon masses with an average deviation of 6.96 MeV.

  5. Topological Diagram Analysis of Charmed Baryon Decays with Vector Mesons

    hep-ph 2026-05 unverdicted novelty 5.0 of 10

Topological diagram analysis of charmed baryon decays to baryon-vector meson final states requires five parameters after applying the Korner-Pati-Woo theorem and yields branching fraction predictions consistent with e...

  6. The Cabibbo-favored hadronic weak decays of the $\Xi_c$ in the quark model

    hep-ph 2025-02 conditional novelty 5.0 of 10

Using direct meson emission, color suppressed, and pole terms in a quark model, the authors reproduce most measured Xi_c decay branching ratios and predict asymmetry parameters, while failing one measured asymmetry sign.

  7. Mass spectrum, magnetic moments and Regge trajectories of $\Omega_{ccb}$ and $\Omega_{cbb}$ baryons in the nonrelativistic quark--diquark model

    hep-ph 2026-04 unverdicted novelty 4.0 of 10

In a nonrelativistic quark-diquark model fitted to B_c meson data, the authors predict ground-state masses of ~8.0 GeV for Ω_ccb and ~11.0 GeV for Ω_cbb along with magnetic moments and Regge trajectories for different...

  8. Unquenched Charmonium and Beyond

    hep-ph 2026-02 conditional novelty 2.0 of 10

This Lanzhou-group review argues that coupled-channel (unquenched) effects, not exotic constituents, are the common thread explaining charmonium anomalies from the rho-pi puzzle to the Y-problem states.
