We construct symmetry-preserving lattice regularizations of 2d QED with one and two flavors of Dirac fermions, as well as the `3450' chiral gauge theory, by leveraging bosonization and recently-proposed modifications of Villain-type lattice actions. The internal global symmetries act just as locally on the lattice as they do in the continuum, the anomalies are reproduced at finite lattice spacing, and in each case we find a sign-problem-free dual formulation.

Exactly Solvable 1+1d Chiral Lattice Gauge Theories
Anomaly-free chiral U(1) gauge theories in 1+1 dimensions can be written as quadratic, exactly solvable lattice Hamiltonians, with the 34-50 model as an explicit example.

Ginsparg-Wilson Hamiltonians with Improved Chiral Symmetry
A tunable family of Ginsparg-Wilson Hamiltonians is constructed in which the chiral charge becomes progressively more quantized as k increases, though locality degrades.

Bosonization versus the Nielsen-Ninomiya theorem
The 2D modified Villain model's Weyl operators reproduce free Dirac correlations in the continuum, and their no-doubler Dirac kernel is non-local, showing exactly how bosonization evades the Nielsen-Ninomiya theorem.

Unpaired Weyl fermion on an axion string in a finite lattice
A modified crossed-domain-wall axion string on an N=28 periodic lattice produces an unpaired, single-chirality Weyl fermion branch, extending the Kaplan-Sen disk construction to string defects.

2d Cardy-Rabinovici model with the modified Villain lattice: Exact dualities and symmetries
The 2d Cardy-Rabinovici model is constructed on a modified Villain lattice, making rescaled theta periodicity and strong-weak duality exact at finite spacing and giving a symmetry-based phase classification.
