CaloFlow is a new and promising approach to fast calorimeter simulation based on normalizing flows. Applying CaloFlow to the photon and charged pion Geant4 showers of Dataset 1 of the Fast Calorimeter Simulation Challenge 2022, we show how it can produce high-fidelity samples with a sampling time that is several orders of magnitude faster than Geant4. We demonstrate the fidelity of the samples using calorimeter shower images, histograms of high-level features, and aggregate metrics such as a classifier trained to distinguish CaloFlow from Geant4 samples.

Reviewed papers in the Pith corpus that reference this work. Sorted by Pith novelty score. Full citation record

  1. Generative Amplification with Surrogate Monte Carlo

    hep-ph 2026-08 conditional novelty 6.0 of 10

An amplitude surrogate trained on a few thousand exact LHC amplitude points statistically outperforms the training data, with largest amplification in sparsely populated kinematic tails of Z+g and Z+4g production.

  2. CaloTrilogy: Toward a Breakthrough in One-Step, End-to-End, Physics-Guided Shower Generation for Modern Calorimeters

    hep-ex 2026-06 unverdicted novelty 6.0 of 10

Presents CaloTrilogy, a unified one-step generative model for high-granularity calorimeter showers that combines velocity field integration, learned priors, and physics losses to match SOTA quality.

  3. GPT-like transformer model for silicon tracking detector simulation

    physics.ins-det 2025-12 conditional novelty 6.0 of 10

A decoder-only transformer trained on tokenized Geant4 hit sequences generates silicon tracker hits that reconstruct to near-Geant4-quality tracks for single muons.
