Contribution to the 44th IFF Spring School held at the Forschungszentrum J\"ulich in 2013 on "Quantum Information Processing". The notes include a pedagogic (but incomplete) introduction to Majorana fermions; especially paying attention to the usefulness for quantum information purposes. It contains an introduction to topological aspects of superconductors, braiding, physical implementations, and measurement of the quantum information using superconducting qubits.

Long-lasting Topological Entanglement in a Monitored Rashba Nanowire
In a monitored Rashba chain the disconnected entanglement entropy stays topological for a time linear in system size because monitoring switches between degenerate topological states while poisoning other quasiparticles.
