We review the current status of experimental and theoretical understanding of the axial nucleon structure at low and moderate energies. Topics considered include (quasi)elastic (anti)neutrino-nucleon scattering, charged pion electroproduction off nucleons and ordinary as well as radiative muon capture on the proton.

Polarized Nucleon as a Topological Dipole
A polarized nucleon generically hosts a topological charge dipole q_top ∝ S · r̂ whose moment equals −ΔΣ/N_f in the chiral limit.

Radiative corrections in neutral-current (anti)neutrino elastic scattering at $\text{GeV}$ energies I: Nucleon targets
Radiative corrections to neutral-current (anti)neutrino-nucleon elastic scattering are computed within low-energy EFT and reach a few percent, comparable to the strange-quark effects they must be disentangled from.

Extraction of the nucleon axial form factor from Lattice QCD using NNLO chiral perturbation theory
NNLO ChPT with explicit Delta fits lattice data to extract g_A = 1.257 ± 0.011 and axial radius squared 0.312 ± 0.037 fm² at the physical point.
-
The Nucleon Axial Form Factor from Elementary Target Data
The nucleon axial form factor from hydrogen and lattice-QCD data falls more slowly with Q² than deuterium-based fits, indicating deuterium extractions are biased low.
-
Relativistic energy-momentum tensor distributions in a polarized nucleon
Relativistic EMT distributions in polarized nucleons recover good and bad light-front components in the IMF after including polarization effects.
-
Mechanical properties of the nucleon from the generalized parton distributions
Using a double-distribution GPD model constrained by elastic-scattering data, the paper fits DQ(0) = -3.37 ± 0.17 from Compton form factors and derives proton pressure, shear, and radii.

Nucleon relativistic weak-neutral axial-vector four-current distributions
The 3D axial charge density of a spin-1/2 hadron is parity-odd and controlled by the induced pseudotensor form factor G_T^Z, while the second-class current drops out of the mean-square axial and spin radii.
