In the current standard viewpoint small black holes are believed to emit radiation as black bodies at the Hawking temperature, at least until they reach Planck size, after which their fate is open to conjecture. A cogent argument against the existence of remnants is that, since no evident quantum number prevents it, black holes should radiate completely away to photons and other ordinary stable particles and vacuum, like any unstable quantum system. Here we argue the contrary, that the generalized uncertainty principle may prevent their total evaporation in exactly the same way that the uncertainty principle prevents the hydrogen atom from total collapse: the collapse is prevented, not by symmetry, but by dynamics, as a minimum size and mass are approached.

  1. Dust stars in the minimal exponential measure model

    gr-qc 2025-05 conditional novelty 7.0 of 10

Dust can form stable horizonless compact objects in the MEMe modified gravity model, offering a dark matter candidate and a mechanism that suppresses black hole formation below about 10^-11 solar masses.

  2. GUP Effective Metric Without GUP: Implications for the Sign of GUP Parameter and Quantum Bounce

    gr-qc 2025-05 conditional novelty 7.0 of 10

A logarithmic entropy correction, combined with the GEVAG varying-G correspondence, yields a metric whose Hawking temperature exactly matches the GUP temperature, implying a negative GUP parameter under the strict Bek...

  3. Cosmological consequences of scale-dependent Barrow-Tsallis entropy

    gr-qc 2026-07 conditional novelty 6.0 of 10

A scale-dependent Barrow-Tsallis entropy cosmology fits cosmic data but is statistically disfavored versus ΛCDM, with only a modest and partially circular Hubble-tension 'alleviation'.

  4. Coherent states in minimal-length Quantum Mechanics: inequivalent characterizations and emergent squeezing

    quant-ph 2026-07 unverdicted novelty 6.0 of 10

Minimal length via GUP makes the usual coherent state characterizations inequivalent for the harmonic oscillator, deforming phase-space trajectories and inducing intrinsic squeezing absent in standard quantum mechanics.

  5. Macroscopic Black-Hole Remnants in a Nonlocal Field Theory: Towards Hawking Radiation in SFT

    hep-th 2026-06 unverdicted novelty 6.0 of 10

In a smeared massless scalar on dynamical black hole, outgoing particle number drops to zero after scrambling time due to SFT nonlocality, implying macroscopic remnant.

  6. A Quantum Superposition of Black Hole Evaporation Histories: Recovering Unitarity

    gr-qc 2025-07 conditional novelty 6.0 of 10

A controlled-squeezing toy model of black hole evaporation with quantum back-reaction is unitary, and the initial black hole state can be recovered from the final radiation.

  7. Bounded compactness from G(E)UP

    gr-qc 2025-07 conditional novelty 6.0 of 10

The generalized uncertainty principle bounds the compactness of any object much heavier than the Planck mass by about 1/α, and the existence of black holes forces the GUP parameter to satisfy α ≲ 2.

  8. A winding number analysis of Schwarzschild black hole stability in light of Planck-scale modified kinematics

    gr-qc 2026-07 conditional novelty 5.0 of 10

For the cubic entropy correction S=πr_h²−αr_h³ arising from a Planck-scale modified dispersion relation, all physically allowed Schwarzschild-like branches have winding number w=−1, so no stable phase appears.

  9. The Remnant of an Evaporating Rotating Regular Black Hole from the Generalized Entropy in the Final Stage of Evaporation

    hep-th 2026-07 conditional novelty 5.0 of 10

A rotating regular black hole leaves a remnant because the correction term in the generalized entropy of Hawking radiation vanishes at a finite mass above the extremal limit.

  10. Modified Cosmology from Mass-to-Horizon Relation: Background Evolution

    gr-qc 2026-06 unverdicted novelty 5.0 of 10

Viable generalized horizon entropies from the mass-to-horizon relation are restricted to a narrow neighborhood around the Bekenstein-Hawking law, yielding only Lambda-CDM-like background evolution.

    gr-qc 2025-04 conditional novelty 5.0 of 10

DESI DR2 BAO data, combined with supernovae and cosmic chronometers, favor a negative Barrow entropy parameter that corresponds to mildly phantom dark energy, but Lambda-CDM is still slightly preferred by information ...

    gr-qc 2026-05 unverdicted novelty 4.0 of 10

Topological classification via winding numbers of a vector field from generalized off-shell free energy shows regular Bardeen black holes have two opposite defects and zero total charge while Schwarzschild has one uns...
