In this paper we discuss gauging noninvertible zero-form symmetries in two dimensions. We specialize to certain gaugeable cases, specifically, fusion categories of the form Rep(H) for H a suitable Hopf algebra (which includes the special case Rep(G) for G a finite group). We also specialize to the case that the fusion category is multiplicity-free. We discuss how to construct a modular-invariant partition function from a choice of Frobenius algebra structure on H^*. We discuss how ordinary G orbifolds for finite groups G are a special case of the construction, corresponding to the fusion category Vec(G) = Rep( C[G]^* ). For the cases Rep(S_3), Rep(D_4), and Rep(Q_8), we construct the crossing kernels for general intertwiner maps. We explicitly compute partition functions in the examples of Rep(S_3), Rep(D_4), Rep(Q_8), and Rep(H_8), and discuss applications in c=1 CFTs. We also discuss decomposition in the special case that the entire noninvertible symmetry group acts trivially.

  1. Non-Invertible Anyon Condensation and Level-Rank Dualities

    hep-th 2023-12 unverdicted novelty 8.0

New dualities in 3d TQFTs are derived via non-invertible anyon condensation, generalizing level-rank dualities and providing new presentations for parafermion theories, c=1 orbifolds, and SU(2)_N.

  2. Parafermionizing the Monster

    hep-th 2026-05 conditional novelty 7.0

Assuming a conjectural decomposition of the Monster character, the Monster CFT has Rep(so(3)_p) symmetry for every odd prime p, and the associated defect McKay-Thompson series have invariance subgroup Γ1(p+2).

  3. On the SymTFTs of Finite Non-Abelian Symmetries

    hep-th 2026-03 unverdicted novelty 7.0

Constructs BF-like 3D SymTFT Lagrangians for finite non-Abelian groups presented as extensions, yielding surface-attaching non-genuine line operators and Drinfeld-center fusion rules.

  4. $E_\infty^{1,2}$-type Lieb-Schultz-Mattis anomalies, deconfined quantum critical points, and non-invertible symmetry breaking

    cond-mat.str-el 2026-06 unverdicted novelty 6.0

E∞^{1,2}-type LSM anomalies lead to non-invertible symmetry breaking at type-II deconfined quantum critical points in 1D spin chains.

  5. Parafermionizing the Monster

    hep-th 2026-05 unverdicted novelty 6.0

Parafermionization equates the Monster CFT to a gauged parafermion pair, yielding Rep(so(3)_p) symmetry and defect McKay-Thompson series invariant under Gamma_1(p+2).

Generalized quantum dimensions from SymTFTs classify massless and massive RG flows in pseudo-Hermitian systems and relate coset constructions to domain walls.

  7. Extending fusion rules with finite subgroups: A general construction of $Z_{N}$ extended conformal field theories and their orbifoldings

    hep-th 2025-08 unverdicted novelty 5.0

Constructs Z_N extended fusion rings and modular partition functions for nonanomalous subgroups, extending to multicomponent systems and orbifoldings in CFTs.

    hep-th 2026-06 unverdicted novelty 4.0

A procedure is given for computing partition functions of Rep(G) noninvertible symmetries on 2D nonabelian G orbifolds, with explicit verification that gauging recovers the original theory's partition function.
