We assess the state of naturalness in high-energy physics and summarize recent approaches to the three major naturalness problems: the cosmological constant problem, the electroweak hierarchy problem, and the strong CP problem.

  1. Towards anomaly detection searches for new physics signatures including Higgs bosons with weakly supervised machine learning

    hep-ex 2026-07 conditional novelty 6.0 of 10

HAXAD, a weakly supervised anomaly-detection search for Higgs-plus-X new physics, is extended with new embeddings and limit-setting, and on 470 fb^-1 of pseudo-data it matches or exceeds the best single cut-based limi...

  2. Search for soft unclustered energy patterns in proton-proton collisions at $\sqrt{s}$ = 13 TeV using data scouting

    hep-ex 2026-07 accept novelty 6.0 of 10

No SUEP signal is observed in CMS scouting data; the search sets the most stringent limits to date on gluon-fusion production of heavy scalars decaying to SUEP-like final states.

  3. The Impossible Triangle: A No-Go for Symmetry-Protected Scalar Portals in Interacting Dark Energy

    hep-ph 2026-07 conditional novelty 5.0 of 10

Symmetry-protected scalar and Yukawa DM–DE portals cannot simultaneously satisfy technical naturalness and resolve the S8 tension; the derivative portal saturates too early.

  4. Symmetry-Protected Momentum Exchange between Dark Matter and Dark Energy

    astro-ph.CO 2026-03 conditional novelty 5.0 of 10

Symmetry-protected pure momentum exchange between inert-doublet dark matter and pNGB dark energy saturates σ8 suppression at ~3.6%, short of resolving the S8 tension.

  5. Light scalars in light of UV/IR mixing: classicalization via synergy between Vainshtein and chameleon screenings

    hep-ph 2025-11 conditional novelty 5.0 of 10

Classicalizing k-essence scalars need m << Λ* and, when potentials or fermion couplings are present, a chameleon-like screening layer to keep Vainshtein screening and classicalon stability intact.
