These lectures are devoted to introducing some of the basic features of quantum geometry that have been emerging from compactified string theory over the last couple of years. The developments discussed include new geometric features of string theory which occur even at the classical level as well as those which require non-perturbative effects. These lecture notes are based on an evolving set of lectures presented at a number of schools but most closely follow a series of seven lectures given at the TASI-96 summer school on Strings, Fields and Duality.

Disturbing news about the $d=2+\epsilon$ expansion
A protected operator forces the O(N) nonlinear sigma model fixed point in 2+epsilon dimensions to be a different CFT family from the Wilson-Fisher O(N) fixed point for finite N.

Kaleidoscopes, Waves and the Prepotential
Coxeter symmetries from isomorphic flops in Kähler-favorable CICYs make the 4D N=2 prepotential solve the Helmholtz equation on the moduli space, enabling resummed expressions from worldsheet instantons.

Dark energy from string theory: an introductory review
String theory imposes constraints on dark energy but permits various construction attempts for de Sitter vacua and single-field exponential quintessence models despite obstructions.
