The strong interaction among hadrons has been measured in the past by scattering experiments. Although this technique has been extremely successful in providing information about the nucleon-nucleon and pion-nucleon interactions, when unstable hadrons are considered the experiments become more challenging. In the last few years, the analysis of correlations in the momentum space for pairs of stable and unstable hadrons measured in pp and p-Pb collisions by the ALICE Collaboration at the LHC has provided a new method to investigate the strong interaction among hadrons. In this article, we review the numerous results recently achieved for hyperon-nucleon, hyperon-hyperon, and kaon-nucleon pairs, which show that this new method opens the possibility of measuring the residual strong interaction of any hadron pair.

  1. Quantum interference effects enhanced in $\pi^+p$ femtoscopic correlation functions

    hep-ph 2026-07 conditional novelty 7.0

The π⁺p correlation peak near 140 MeV/c arises from quantum interference of incident and scattered waves, while the Δ decay peaks near 220 MeV/c; their m_T-dependent mix explains the ALICE peak shift.

  2. Reconstructing rare particle source by femtoscopic correlations

    hep-ph 2026-05 conditional novelty 7.0

A statistical method reconstructs single-particle emission sources for rare particles directly from conditioned correlation kernels in femtoscopy, demonstrated on simulated J/ψ sources in pp collisions with 13% system...

  3. Reconstructing rare particle source by femtoscopic correlations

    hep-ph 2026-05 unverdicted novelty 7.0

A statistical method expresses pair correlations as ensemble averages over single-particle-conditioned kernels, enabling event-by-event reconstruction of rare-particle emission sources, demonstrated on simulated J/ψ d...

  4. Light Antinuclei Coalescence: Femtoscopic Constraints via Neural-Flow Surrogates

    astro-ph.HE 2026-07 conditional novelty 6.0

A neural-flow emulator of the CECA femtoscopic source, fit to 49 ALICE pp correlation functions, reduces claimed uncertainties on antinuclei coalescence parameters B2 and B3 to a few percent and ~10% respectively.

  5. Multiplicity dependence of the size of the common hadron emission source in pp collisions at the LHC

    nucl-ex 2026-06 accept novelty 6.0

  6. $D\bar{D}^\ast$-$\pi J/\psi$ scatterings of coupled channels for $Z_c(3900)$ channel

    hep-ph 2026-04 conditional novelty 6.0

Coupled-channel Zc(3900) scattering is dominated by short-range quark exchange between D Dbar* and J/psi pi, agreeing with HAL QCD only after a fitted overall reduction beta ~ 0.3.

  7. From hyperon--nucleon interactions to deuteron--hyperon femtoscopy

    nucl-th 2026-07 conditional novelty 5.0

Folded HAL-QCD potentials yield no dY bound states but a large dΛ scattering length and strong low-k correlation enhancement, with feed-down from Σ and Ξ clearly reshaping the observed dΛ signal.

  8. When positive and negative pairs differ in femtoscopy: residual Coulomb and isospin effects

    nucl-th 2026-06 unverdicted novelty 5.0

Residual Coulomb and isospin effects produce charge-dependent splittings in identical-particle correlation functions, strongest at low kT, that modify fitted radii.

  9. Decay constants of the two-pole $D_0^*(2300)$

    hep-ph 2026-07 conditional novelty 4.0

    Molecular two-pole D0*(2300) decay constants are 65 and 81 MeV—much smaller than compact c¯q estimates—and imply Cabibbo-favored b-hadron branching fractions of order 10^{-5}.

  10. Accessing Exotic Hadronic States via Charmed-Meson Femtoscopy in Relativistic Heavy-Ion Collisions

    nucl-th 2026-05 unverdicted novelty 4.0

Simulations indicate that heavy-ion collisions enhance the visibility of charmed-meson femtoscopic correlations compared to pp collisions, providing a probe for exotic hadronic states.

  11. $D\bar{D}^\ast$-$\pi J/\psi$ scatterings of coupled channels for $Z_c(3900)$ channel

    hep-ph 2026-04 unverdicted novelty 4.0

Quark-exchange interactions at short distances dominate the coupled-channel scattering amplitudes for Zc(3900) over meson exchanges in an effective hadron-quark model.

    hep-ph 2026-03 conditional novelty 4.0

Theoretical predictions show that femtoscopic correlation functions for neutral Σ_c^0 π^- pairs best constrain isotensor strong interactions in charm and bottom sectors, while Coulomb repulsion diminishes discriminati...

  13. Can the strong interactions between hadrons be determined using femtoscopy?

    nucl-th 2025-04 unverdicted novelty 3.0

The universality assumption in the Koonin-Pratt formula for femtoscopic correlations introduces potentially large intrinsic uncertainty when extracting strong interactions between hadrons like nucleons.
