The occurrence of chaos for test particles moving around Schwarzschild black holes perturbed by a special class of gravitational waves is studied in the context of the Melnikov method. The explicit integration of the equations of motion for the homoclinic orbit is used to reduce the application of this method to the study of simple graphics.

Chaotic orbital dynamics of pulsating stars around black holes surrounded by dark matter halos
Spherically symmetric pulsations trigger homoclinic chaos in orbits around black holes enclosed by dark matter halos, unlike the vacuum Schwarzschild case.

Chaotic motion of particles around a Schwarzschild black hole in a swirling electromagnetic background
Numerical chaos indicators applied to the Schwarzschild-Bertotti-Robinson-Bonnor-Melvin family show that chaos occurs without swirling and that electromagnetic field strengths and directions tightly restrict bound orbits.
