The black-hole information paradox provides one of the sharpest foci for the conflict between quantum mechanics and general relativity and has become the proving-ground of would-be theories of quantum gravity. String theory has made significant progress in resolving this paradox, and has led to the fuzzball and microstate geometry programs. The core principle of these programs is that horizons and singularities only arise if one tries to describe gravity using a theory that has too few degrees of freedom to resolve the physics. String theory has sufficiently many degrees of freedom and this naturally leads to fuzzballs and microstate geometries: The reformation of black holes into objects with neither horizons nor singularities. This not only resolves the paradox but provides new insights into the microstructure of black holes. We summarize the current status of this approach and describe future prospects and additional insights that are now within reach. 1. Holography of quarter-BPS AdS bubbles

    hep-th 2025-12 conditional novelty 7.0 of 10

The CFT state dual to quarter-BPS AdS bubbles is determined to quadratic order, explicitly containing the lightest quarter-BPS operator O1/4 with its subleading 1/N mixing.

  2. The black hole S-matrix in gauge/gravity duality

    hep-th 2026-07 conditional novelty 6.0 of 10

A unitary black hole S-matrix is built in AdS/CFT via collapsing brane shells; the black hole decays by exponentially rare brane emission, and the emitted branes are argued to be the original constituents, resolving t...

  3. Berry Picking: Random Wave Chaos Hierarchy for BPS Microstate Geometries

    hep-th 2026-07 conditional novelty 6.0 of 10

Wave chaos in BPS microstate geometries strengthens toward black-hole-like throats while geodesic chaos weakens, and weak-coupling CFT Renyi entropies do not share that bulk hierarchy.

  4. Deformed BTZ Radiance and Single Trace $T\bar{T}$ Holography

    hep-th 2026-06 unverdicted novelty 6.0 of 10

Long-string emission from rotating λ-deformed BTZ black holes forces a unique origin B-field that matches the value needed for the string spectrum to agree with the Z_w sector of single-trace T T-bar deformed orbifold...

  5. Waveform stability of black hole ringdown with stochastic horizon structure

    gr-qc 2026-02 conditional novelty 6.0 of 10

Ringdown waveforms are robust against small-scale stochastic horizon fluctuations; only coherent, macroscopic horizon structure with ε≳10^-4 and L_c∼M could produce observable deviations.
