Hydrodynamics provides a successful framework to effectively describe the dynamics of complex many-body systems ranging from subnuclear to cosmological scales by introducing macroscopic quantities such as particle densities and fluid velocities. According to textbook knowledge, it requires coarse graining over microscopic constituents to define a macroscopic fluid cell, which is large compared to the interparticle spacing and the mean free path. In addition, the entire system must consist of many such fluid cells. In high energy heavy ion collisions, hydrodynamic behaviour is inferred from the observation of elliptic flow. Here, we demonstrate the emergence of elliptic flow in a system of few strongly interacting atoms. In our system a hydrodynamic description is a priori not applicable, as all relevant length scales, i.e. the system size, the inter-particle spacing, and the mean free path are comparable. The single particle resolution, deterministic control over particle number and interaction strength in our experiment allow us to explore the boundaries between a microscopic description and a hydrodynamic framework in unprecedented detail.

Gaussian non relativistic spontaneously stochastic hydrodynamics
The paper proposes that non-relativistic incompressible hydrodynamics is the infrared limit of a Gaussian stochastic theory, with compressible-scale counterterms generating spontaneous stochasticity and anomalous dissipation.

Fermi-liquid view of viscosity in cold and dense nucleon matter
In a quasiparticle Fermi liquid with medium-dependent mass, imposing Landau matching makes the bulk viscosity manifestly non-negative and parametrically smaller than shear viscosity at low temperature, ζ/η ∝ (T/μ*)⁴.

Experimentally accessible drive-induced attractor in a Fermi gas near unitarity
A rapid scattering-length sweep in a near-unitary Fermi gas produces an early-time attractor that is visible only in the joint (E, Π) state space, not in a single-variable curve.

Transport coefficients of dense nucleon matter at low temperature
The paper expresses the bulk and shear viscosities of cold dense nucleon matter through derivatives of the thermodynamic potential, and claims that the positivity of bulk viscosity imposes an independent stability con...

Nuclear Physics Confronts Relativistic Collisions Of Isobars
RHIC isobar data are explained by different shapes of 96Ru and 96Zr, with 96Zr showing a large octupole deformation, so nuclear structure uncertainty, not the magnetic field, dominates the observed ratios.
