abstract

We show that infinite families of non-relativistic spin-$3$ symmetries in $2+1$ dimensions, which include higher-spin extensions of the Bargmann, Newton-Hooke, non-relativistic Maxwell, and non-relativistic AdS-Lorentz algebras, can be obtained as Lie algebra expansions of two different spin-$3$ extensions of the Nappi-Witten symmetry. These higher-spin Nappi-Witten algebras, in turn, are obtained by means of In\"on\"u-Wigner contractions applied to suitable direct product extensions of $\mathfrak{sl}(3,\mathbb{R})$. Conversely, we show that the same result can be obtained by considering contractions of expanded $\mathfrak{sl}(3,\mathbb{R})$ algebras. The method can be used to define non-relativistic higher-spin Chern-Simon gravity theories in $2+1$ dimensions in a systematic way.

  1. Non-Lorentzian Supergravity and Kinematical Superalgebras

    hep-th 2024-12 conditional novelty 7.0 of 10

Supersymmetric extensions of extended kinematical algebras are classified via semigroup expansion, and non-degenerate Chern-Simons supergravity actions are constructed in three dimensions.

  2. Asymptotic structure of three-dimensional Maxwell Chern-Simons gravity coupled to spin-3 fields

    hep-th 2024-12 conditional novelty 5.0 of 10

The asymptotic symmetry algebra of three-dimensional Maxwell Chern-Simons gravity with spin-3 fields is a new nonlinear algebra, hs3max-bms3, which is also obtained as the flat limit of three copies of the W3 algebra.

  3. 3D Carrollian gravity from 2D Euclidean symmetry

    hep-th 2024-12 conditional novelty 4.0 of 10

Post-Carroll-Newtonian Chern-Simons gravities are systematically obtained by semigroup-expanding 2D Euclidean B_k algebras, recovering known Carrollian models as subcases.
