Radial and elliptic flow in non-central heavy ion collisions can constrain the effective Equation of State(EoS) of the excited nuclear matter. To this end, a model combining relativistic hydrodynamics and a hadronic transport code(RQMD [17]) is developed. For an EoS with a first order phase transition, the model reproduces both the radial and elliptic flow data at the SPS. With the EoS fixed from SPS data, we quantify predictions at RHIC where the Quark Gluon Plasma(QGP) pressure is expected to drive additional radial and elliptic flow. Currently, the strong elliptic flow observed in the first RHIC measurements does not conclusively signal this nascent QGP pressure. Additional measurements are suggested to pin down the EoS.

  1. Finite-Density Dynamics of Chemically Equilibrating QGP in Conformal Gubser Flow and Hard Thermal Photon Production

    hep-ph 2026-06 unverdicted novelty 5.0 of 10

Models chemical non-equilibrium in finite-density QGP under conformal Gubser flow and its impact on hard thermal photon production, finding delayed equilibration with quarks lagging gluons, suppressed total yield but ...

  2. Effects of sub-nucleonic fluctuations on the longitudinal structure of heavy-ion collisions

    nucl-th 2025-01 conditional novelty 5.0 of 10

Sub-nucleonic hotspots in the initial state increase longitudinal flow decorrelation and reduce baryon stopping in simulated Pb+Pb collisions, but the model still underestimates decorrelation in mid-central events.

  3. Constraining the chiral magnetic effect using spectator and participant planes across Au+Au and isobar collisions at $\sqrt{s_{_{\rm NN}}} = 200$ GeV

    nucl-th 2025-01 conditional novelty 4.0 of 10

AMPT simulations suggest the CME signal-to-background plane ratio b/a is 0.88±0.08 in Au+Au, closer to unity than isobar collisions (0.65±0.18), implying the two-plane CME method is more reliable in Au+Au.

  4. Electrical conductivity of QGP with quasiparticle quarks and Gribov gluon

    hep-ph 2024-04 unverdicted novelty 4.0 of 10

Electrical conductivity of QGP is estimated above deconfinement temperature via quasiparticle quarks and Gribov gluons in relaxation-time approximation, showing agreement with lattice QCD.

  5. What is the Quark-Gluon Plasma made of?

    nucl-th 2025-06 accept novelty 2.0 of 10

The quark-gluon plasma is best described as a strongly coupled liquid of massive, very short-lived quark and gluon quasiparticles, with sound (phonon) modes becoming the most well-defined collective excitation at low momenta.
