abstract

In theories with a large number N of particle species, black hole physics imposes an upper bound on the mass of the species equal to M_{Planck}/\sqrt{N}. This bound suggests a novel solution to the hierarchy problem in which there are N \approx 10^{32} gravitationally coupled species, for example 10^{32} copies of the Standard Model. The black hole bound forces them to be at the weak scale, hence providing a stable hierarchy. We present various arguments, that in such theories the effective gravitational cutoff is reduced to \Lambda_G \approx M_{Planck}/\sqrt{N} and a new description is needed around this scale. In particular black-holes smaller than \Lambda_G^{-1} are already no longer semi-classical. The nature of the completion is model dependent. One natural possibility is that \Lambda_G is the quantum gravity scale. We provide evidence that within this type of scenarios, contrary to the standard intuition, micro black holes have a (slowly-fading) memory of the species of origin. Consequently the black holes produced at LHC, will predominantly decay into the Standard Model particles, and negligibly into the other species.

hep-th · 2026-05-04 · unverdicted · novelty 7.0 · 2 refs

The Schwinger integral over light towers captures precisely the instantons with actions in the window (Λ_sp/M_light)^{-1} ≤ S_inst ≤ Λ_sp/M_light, as verified in eight- and seven-dimensional toroidal compactifications.

Alice in Warpland: KK modes, Warped Compactifications and the Swampland

hep-th · 2026-03-11 · unverdicted · novelty 7.0

In codimension-one warped compactifications with exponential potentials, the KK mass decay rate λ_KK is reduced by warping but still satisfies the Sharpened Distance Conjecture precisely when the higher-dimensional potential obeys the Strong de Sitter condition.

Optimal paths across potentials on scalar field space

hep-th · 2026-04-27 · unverdicted · novelty 7.0

Optimal transport yields a generalized Wasserstein distance on field space, obtained from a WKB expansion of a Schrödinger equation and extended to dynamical gravity via the Wheeler-DeWitt equation in the ADM formalism.

EFTs with Symmetric Moduli Spaces: the Landscape and the Swampland

hep-th · 2026-05-25 · unverdicted · novelty 6.0

Using weight polytopes of irreducible representations, a finite list of symmetric moduli spaces satisfies the SDC decay rates; most embed from an E8(8) EFT but three cannot be obtained from string or M-theory compactifications.

Searching for a Dark Dimension Right-handed Neutrino in KATRIN

hep-ph · 2025-09-05 · unverdicted · novelty 5.0

The paper derives KATRIN signatures for a 5D right-handed neutrino and shows that a large part of the compactification scale, bulk mass, and Yukawa coupling parameter space lies within experimental sensitivity, with multiple or single kinks depending on the bulk mass relative to the compactification

Neutrino Masses and Phenomenology in Nnaturalness

hep-ph · 2025-02-13 · unverdicted · novelty 5.0

Nnaturalness generates neutrino mass matrices through multi-sector mixing, excludes democratic couplings, and yields a tower of neutrino eigenstates with theory-determined mass splittings.

Some Properties and Uses of the Species Scale

hep-th · 2026-04-30 · unverdicted · novelty 5.0

The Species Scale implies Laplace eigenvalue equations for BPS-protected Wilson coefficients and produces a one-loop moduli potential with minima at desert points that may stabilize Kähler moduli in 4d Type IIB orientifolds.

Cosmological history after higher dimensional inflation

hep-th · 2026-06-18 · unverdicted · novelty 4.0

Proposes a post-inflation cosmological evolution in large-extra-dimension models that prevents bulk graviton overproduction up to reheating while preserving scale-invariant perturbations for 1-2 micron-sized dimensions.

Stochastic Survival near Swampland Boundaries

hep-th · 2026-06-06 · conditional · novelty 4.0

Surviving inflationary histories develop a universal inward drift near any hard swampland boundary — two times the diffusion over the distance to the edge — regardless of the cutoff's microscopic origin.

Dark energy from string theory: an introductory review

hep-th · 2026-03-26 · unverdicted · novelty 2.0

String theory imposes constraints on dark energy but permits various construction attempts for de Sitter vacua and single-field exponential quintessence models despite obstructions.
