abstract

Dark sectors charged under a new Abelian force have recently received much attention in the context of dark matter models. These models introduce a light new mediator, the so-called dark photon (A'), connecting the dark sector to the Standard Model. We present a search for a dark photon in the reaction e+e- -> gamma A', A'-> e+e-, mu+mu- using 514 fb-1 of data collected with the BABAR detector. We do not observe a significant signal and we set 90% confidence level upper limits on the mixing strength between the photon and dark photon at the level of 10^-4 - 10^-3 for dark photon masses in the range 0.02 - 10.2 GeV. We further constrain the range of the parameter space favored by interpretations of the discrepancy between the calculated and measured anomalous magnetic moment of the muon.

Axion-Like Electrophilic Portal for Pion Dark Matter

hep-ph · 2026-02-02 · unverdicted · novelty 5.0

A minimal electrophilic ALP portal for SIMP pion dark matter widens the allowed parameter space, making an ALP mass of order 10 MeV viable and consistent with the X17 anomaly.

WIMP Dark Matter within the dark photon portal

hep-ph · 2025-08-12 · unverdicted · novelty 3.0

Derives lower limits on dark photon parameters from thermal relic density for Dirac fermion and complex scalar WIMPs and compares resulting spin-independent cross sections to direct detection upper bounds.

The Dark Photon

hep-ph · 2020-05-04 · unverdicted · novelty 2.0

The paper surveys theoretical motivations, experimental searches, and bounds on the dark photon as a kinetically mixed gauge boson from a dark sector, covering both massive and massless cases along with related milli-charged fermion constraints.
