In the past decade, exotic hadrons with charm and bottom flavors have been extensively studied both in experiments and in theories. In this review, we provide topical discussions by selecting $X,Y,Z$ particles, to which Belle has made important contributions. These are $X(3872)$, $Y(4260)$, $Z_c(4430)^+$, $Z_c(3900)^+$, $Z_{b}(10610)^+$ and $Z_{b}(10650)^+$. Based on the current experimental observations, we discuss those states with emphasis on hadronic molecule whose dynamics is governed by chiral symmetry and heavy-quark symmetry of QCD. We also mention briefly various interpretations and some theoretical predictions for the yet undiscovered exotic hadrons.

  1. Compositeness of near-threshold eigenstates with Coulomb plus short-range interactions

    hep-ph 2026-04 unverdicted novelty 7.0

The compositeness of near-threshold eigenstates with Coulomb plus short-range forces is determined solely by the Coulomb scattering length, effective range, and Bohr radius, with the Coulomb interaction qualitatively ...

  2. Model-independent mass determination of near-threshold states from short-range production

    hep-ph 2025-10 unverdicted novelty 7.0

A model-independent minimum in short-range production rates of dimer-spectator systems allows precise mass extraction for near-threshold states via a fixed relation to the observed dip position.

  3. Vector charmonium(-like) states in the energy range of 4.1-4.6 GeV

    hep-ph 2026-06 unverdicted novelty 5.0

A coupled-channel framework is developed and fitted to BESIII data on vector charmonium-like states in the 4.1-4.6 GeV range, concluding that coupled-channel effects with dynamically generated poles explain the line shapes.

  4. Determination of the $Z_c(3900)$ and the $Z_{cs}(3985)$ states from joint analysis of experimental and lattice data

    hep-ph 2026-04 unverdicted novelty 5.0

    Joint analysis of experimental and lattice data confirms Z_c(3900) and Z_cs(3985) as SU(3) flavor partners with pole masses (3879.6 ± 4.8) MeV and (3976.9 ± 5.1) MeV, half-widths (32.2 ± 4.7) MeV and (28.8 ± 5.9) MeV,...

  5. Coupled-channel study of the three-body $DDK$ and $D^{*}D^{*}K$

    hep-ph 2026-04 unverdicted novelty 5.0

The DDK system supports a deeply bound compact state across wide parameters and possibly a shallow three-body halo state near the D-DK threshold, with negligible D*D*K coupling and no resonances.

  6. Correlation function and bound state from the $K D_{s0}^*(2317)$ interaction

    hep-ph 2026-04 unverdicted novelty 5.0

The K D_s0*(2317) system develops a narrow resonance 40 MeV below threshold under the fixed-center molecular assumption, producing a characteristic correlation function for strong attraction.

  7. Short-range production of three bottom mesons

    hep-ph 2025-11 unverdicted novelty 5.0

Leading-order predictions for three-body point production rates of B and B* meson systems are derived in short-range NREFT from two-body input alone.

  8. Radiative decays of $X(3872)$ within $D{\bar D}^*$ molecular framework

    hep-ph 2026-07 conditional novelty 4.0

Using nonrelativistic effective field theory, the X(3872) is treated as a D*D molecule to predict radiative decay widths to D D gamma, finding a strong neutral-over-charged hierarchy and quantifying D D rescattering effects.

  9. Accessing Exotic Hadronic States via Charmed-Meson Femtoscopy in Relativistic Heavy-Ion Collisions

    nucl-th 2026-05 unverdicted novelty 4.0

Simulations indicate that heavy-ion collisions enhance the visibility of charmed-meson femtoscopic correlations compared to pp collisions, providing a probe for exotic hadronic states.

  10. Does $\psi(4660)$ exist?

    hep-ph 2026-05 unverdicted novelty 4.0

Fits using coupled channels and bare states show the psi(4660) as a conventional charmonium state above the Lambda_c pair threshold in both Belle and BESIII datasets.

  11. $D\bar{D}^\ast$-$\pi J/\psi$ scatterings of coupled channels for $Z_c(3900)$ channel

    hep-ph 2026-04 unverdicted novelty 4.0

Quark-exchange interactions at short distances dominate the coupled-channel scattering amplitudes for Zc(3900) over meson exchanges in an effective hadron-quark model.

  12. Three-body molecular states composed of $D^{(*)}$ and two nucleons

    hep-ph 2026-02 unverdicted novelty 4.0

The DNN system forms a robust compact bound state in the I=1/2 (1^-) channel across cutoffs, while D*NN exhibits spin-dependent bound states in 0^-, 1^-, and 2^- channels with no resonances found.

    hep-ex 2025-02 unverdicted novelty 2.0

A review summarizing experimental contributions from BABAR, Belle, BESIII, and CLEO-c to the study of hadron production in open-charm meson pairs and insights into nonstandard hadrons.
