The low-lying energy spectrum of the static-colour-source-anti-source system in a vacuum containing light and strange quarks is computed using lattice QCD for a range of different light quark masses. The resulting levels are described using a simple model Hamiltonian and the parameters in this model are extrapolated to the physical light-quark masses. In this framework, the QCD string tension is found to be $\sqrt{\sigma}=445(3)_{\rm stat}(6)_{\rm sys}$ MeV.

  1. Open-flavor threshold effects on quarkonium spectrum in the BOEFT

    hep-ph 2026-04 unverdicted novelty 7.0

BOEFT quantifies threshold-induced shifts in quarkonium masses below threshold by solving coupled Schrödinger equations using lattice potentials and one parameter fixed to the χ_c1(3872) mass.

  2. Hints for string breaking in QCD

    hep-lat 2026-07 conditional novelty 6.0

Direct measurement of chromo-electric flux-tube profiles in lattice QCD with physical quark masses indicates string breaking occurs at a quark-antiquark separation between 0.963 and 1.156 fm.

  3. $\boldsymbol{\chi_{c1}}(3872)$ and its Partners in the Diabatic Born-Oppenheimer Approximation for QCD

    hep-ph 2026-06 unverdicted novelty 5.0

χ_c1(3872) is treated as a bound state in adjoint-meson Born-Oppenheimer potentials within a diabatic model, with calculated spin splittings and decay widths for its multiplet and bottom analogs after tuning to threshold.

  4. Bounding statistical errors in lattice field theory simulations

    hep-lat 2025-06 unverdicted novelty 5.0

Introduces bounds-based stopping criteria and automatic windowing for autocorrelation integrals to estimate statistical errors in lattice field theory Monte Carlo simulations.
