abstract

PandaX-4T and XENONnT have recently reported the first measurement of nuclear recoils induced by the $^8$B solar neutrino flux, through the coherent elastic neutrino-nucleus scattering (CE$\nu$NS) channel. As long anticipated, this is an important milestone for dark matter searches as well as for neutrino physics. This measurement means that these detectors have reached exposures such that searches for low mass, $\lesssim 10$ GeV dark matter cannot be analyzed using the background-free paradigm going forward. It also opens a new era for these detectors to be used as neutrino observatories. In this paper we assess the sensitivity of these new measurements to new physics in the neutrino sector. We focus on neutrino non-standard interactions (NSI) and show that -- despite the still moderately low statistical significance of the signals -- these data already provide valuable information. We find that limits on NSI from PandaX-4T and XENONnT measurements are comparable to those derived using combined COHERENT CsI and LAr data, as well as those including the latest Ge measurement. Furthermore, they provide sensitivity to pure $\tau$ flavor parameters that are not accessible using stopped-pion or reactor sources. With further improvements of statistical uncertainties as well as larger exposures, forthcoming data from these experiments will provide important, novel results for CE$\nu$NS-related physics.

    hep-ex 2026-03 conditional novelty 6.0 of 10

Assuming the low-energy background can be eliminated, a 7-gram NUCLEUS detector at Chooz is projected to see coherent neutrino-nucleus scattering at 4.7σ in one year and to set competitive bounds on new neutrino interactions.

  2. Testing light and heavy vector mediators with solar CE$\nu$NS measurements

    hep-ph 2026-02 conditional novelty 5.0 of 10

Combined solar CEνNS data from XENONnT, PandaX-4T, and LZ yield competitive constraints on vector NSI and light mediators and a weak mixing angle measurement at low momentum transfer.

  3. Neutrino NSI in archaeological Pb

    hep-ph 2026-02 conditional novelty 5.0 of 10

RES-NOVA with a 0.1 keV threshold and 1 ton·yr exposure could probe neutrino non-standard interactions beyond current global constraints, especially in the eτ sector.

  4. New light mediators and the neutrino fog: Implications from XENONnT nuclear recoil data

    hep-ph 2025-12 conditional novelty 5.0 of 10

Light-mediator couplings are constrained more strongly when they attach to dark matter than to neutrinos, and the neutrinofog in xenon detectors is shifted and deformed under both scenarios.

  5. Neutrino fog in the light dark sector: the role of isospin violation

    hep-ph 2025-08 unverdicted novelty 5.0 of 10

In a U(1)' dark sector model, isospin-violating couplings shift both the neutrino floor and the DM exclusion bound, changing the window for light dark matter discovery.

  6. Searching for generalized neutrino interactions in direct detection experiments with E{\nu}ES

    hep-ph 2025-10 conditional novelty 4.0 of 10

Direct-detection xenon experiments yield new 90% C.L. constraints on vector, axial, scalar, and tensor generalized neutrino interactions, generally weaker than existing global bounds.

  7. Prospects for Exploring Non-Standard Neutrino Properties with Argon-Based CEvNS Experiments

    hep-ph 2025-10 conditional novelty 4.0 of 10

Argon CEvNS detectors at stopped-pion sources project sin²θW precision near 1%, neutrino magnetic-moment limits near 10⁻⁹ μB, charge-radius limits near 10⁻³² cm², and vector NSI sensitivity at the 10⁻² level.
