Frequentist profile likelihoods have seen a resurgence in cosmology, offering an alternative to Bayesian methods as they can circumvent the impact of prior-volume effects. This paper presents Procoli, a fast and accessible package to obtain profile likelihoods in cosmology, available on GitHub and PyPI. Procoli seamlessly integrates with MontePython, incorporating all its available data likelihoods, as well as any modified versions of CLASS. This paper provides a comprehensive overview of the Procoli code, detailing the simulated-annealing optimizer at its core and the sequential computation of the profile. An an example, we use the early dark energy model which is afflicted by prior-volume effects to illustrate the code's features. We validate its optimizer with mock data, and compare optimization techniques for both the global minimum and the profile. Procoli further enables splitting profiles into their component contributions from individual experiments, offering nuanced insights into the data and model. As a valuable addition to the cosmologist's toolkit, Procoli supplements existing Bayesian codes, contributing to more robust parameter constraints in cosmological studies.

  1. First full-shape joint analysis of the two- and three-point correlation functions on real data: $\Lambda$CDM cosmological constraints from BOSS DR12

    astro-ph.CO 2026-06 unverdicted novelty 8.0

First joint 2PCF+3PCF full-shape analysis on BOSS DR12 real data improves σ(h) by ~29%, σ(ω_cdm) by ~10%, and σ(A_s) by ~24% over 2PCF alone via extra BAO information in 3PCF triangles.

  2. Dark energy perturbations and the robustness of cosmological neutrino-mass constraints

    astro-ph.CO 2026-06 conditional novelty 6.0

Including dark-energy perturbations shifts cosmological neutrino-mass constraints toward smaller effective masses, making the dynamical-dark-energy alleviation of the neutrino-mass tension non-generic.

  3. Dark energy perturbations and the robustness of cosmological neutrino-mass constraints

    astro-ph.CO 2026-06 unverdicted novelty 6.0

Dynamical dark energy with perturbations reverses the alleviation of neutrino mass tension seen in smooth models, preferring smaller masses due to degeneracies in growth data from CMB, BAO, RSD, and supernovae.

  4. Recoupled Dark Radiation reconciling CMB and DESI BAO measurements

    astro-ph.CO 2026-05 unverdicted novelty 6.0

An interacting sterile neutrino component via pseudoscalar mediator reconciles CMB and DESI DR2 BAO measurements with 2.7 sigma preference and reduces H0 tension to 2.4 sigma.

  5. Double the axions, half the tension: multi-field early dark energy eases the Hubble tension

    astro-ph.CO 2026-04 unverdicted novelty 6.0

Two-field axion-like early dark energy reduces Hubble tension to 1.5 sigma residual and improves high-ell CMB fits over single-field models.

  6. Neutrino mass limits and decaying dark matter: background evolution versus perturbations

    astro-ph.CO 2026-03 accept novelty 6.0

Decaying dark matter can hide neutrino mass from expansion-history data, but CMB lensing unmasks it and restores ∑mν ≲ 0.079 eV.

  7. Probing the sound speed and clustering of dark energy

    astro-ph.CO 2025-11 conditional novelty 6.0

For a time-varying dark energy model, current data give log10 c_s^2 = -3.00 (+2.9/-0.99), a first but weak constraint on its clustering.

  8. The $H_0$ World Cup. I. Summary of the baseline group stage results

    astro-ph.CO 2026-07 conditional novelty 5.0

In a systematic head-to-head analysis, early dark energy and early modified gravity models reduce the Hubble tension to about 3σ and are favored over ΛCDM, while radiation and late-time alternatives are not.

  9. Determination of neutron star radius from pulse profile modeling using profile likelihood

    astro-ph.HE 2026-07 conditional novelty 5.0

Profile-likelihood maximization over nuisance parameters in X-PSI recovers injected neutron-star radius to <1σ on synthetic data, with precision comparable to MultiNest Bayesian inference but ~400× lower CPU cost.

  10. Disentangling cosmic distance tensions with early and late dark energy

    astro-ph.CO 2026-04 unverdicted novelty 5.0

Early dark energy resolves CMB-BAO tension and, combined with thawing quintessence, reduces overall cosmological tensions without phantom crossing.

  11. Reanalyzing DESI DR1: 2. Constraints on Dark Energy, Spatial Curvature, and Neutrino Masses

    astro-ph.CO 2025-11 unverdicted novelty 5.0

Reanalysis of DESI full-shape clustering data tightens constraints on neutrino mass, spatial curvature, and dark energy equation-of-state parameters relative to BAO-only results.

  12. Reionization History and Neutrino Mass

    astro-ph.CO 2026-05 unverdicted novelty 4.0

Reionization histories with higher total optical depth can move the best-fit neutrino mass sum to positive values around 0.06 eV within 95% confidence from CMB and BAO data.
