We calculate the heavy quarkonium energy levels and decay widths in a quark-gluon plasma, whose temperature T and screening mass m_D satisfy the hierarchy m alpha_s >> T >> m alpha_s^2 >> m_D (m being the heavy-quark mass), at order m alpha_s^5. We first sequentially integrate out the scales m, m alpha_s and T, and, next, we carry out the calculations in the resulting effective theory using techniques of integration by regions. A collinear region is identified, which contributes at this order. We also discuss the implications of our results concerning heavy quarkonium suppression in heavy ion collisions.

  1. The chromoelectric adjoint correlators in Euclidean space at next-to-leading order

    hep-ph 2025-05 conditional novelty 8.0 of 10

The chromoelectric adjoint correlators are evaluated at next-to-leading order, revealing a Wilson-line zero-mode induced asymmetry that matches lattice data at extremely high temperatures.

  2. Lattice study of correlators of chromoelectric fields for heavy quarkonium dynamics in the quark-gluon plasma

    hep-lat 2025-05 conditional novelty 7.0 of 10

Adjoint chromoelectric correlators relevant for quarkonium dynamics are calculated in quenched lattice QCD and found to equal the fundamental correlator times Casimir factors, confirming leading-order relations nonper...

    hep-ph 2025-01 conditional novelty 7.0 of 10

Debye mass resummation reduces bound-state dark matter depletion by up to a factor of two relative to fixed-order NLO, changing relic abundance predictions by a few percent.

    hep-ph 2025-01 conditional novelty 3.0 of 10

In the planar limit of the Myers-Perry black hole, increasing the boost parameter makes the imaginary quarkonium potential appear at smaller separations and enlarges the thermal width, most strongly for transverse pai...
