We show that a hybrid (nuclear + quark matter) star can have a mass-radius relationship very similar to that predicted for a star made of purely nucleonic matter. We show this for a generic parameterization of the quark matter equation of state, and also for an MIT bag model, each including a phenomenological correction based on gluonic corrections to the equation of state. We obtain hybrid stars as heavy as 2 M_solar for reasonable values of the bag model parameters. For nuclear matter, we use the equation of state calculated by Akmal, Pandharipande, and Ravenhall using many-body techniques. Both mixed and homogeneous phases of nuclear and quark matter are considered.

Subsolar-mass binary mergers of strange stars and neutron stars: gravitational waves and ejecta
Subsolar strange star mergers produce a lower post-merger-to-cutoff GW frequency ratio than neutron star mergers, cleanly separating the two classes across equations of state and mass ratios.

How Neutron Star Radii Encode the Dense-Matter Equation of State and Hadron-Quark Transition
A Bayesian analysis of mock neutron star radius measurements shows that precision radii mainly constrain the symmetry-energy parameters L and Ksym and the quark transition density, while transition strength and quark ...

On the formation of strange quark stars from supernova in compact binaries
In a binary containing a neutron star and an exploding star, hypercritical accretion can push neutron stars past the density threshold for quark deconfinement, forming strange quark stars.

Remnant properties of binary neutron star mergers undergoing prompt collapse
Prompt-collapse neutron star merger remnants occupy a narrow, high-spin region of the mass-spin plane, and Cosmic Explorer could use tidal deformability to classify most such mergers as neutron star events out to 100-250 Mpc.

The impact of hyperons on neutron star mergers: gravitational waves, mass ejection and black hole formation
Hyperonic equations of state raise the dominant postmerger gravitational-wave frequency by a few percent and reduce the prompt black hole formation threshold by about 0.05 solar masses.

Braneworld Neutron Stars: Constraining Brane Tension with Observational Data
Using six neutron star equations of state, braneworld gravity can support the 2.5 to 2.67 solar mass object seen in GW190814 and gives a lower bound on brane tension near 2×10^37 dyne/cm^2.

Fastest spinning millisecond pulsars: indicators for quark matter in neutron stars?
Hybrid stars with color-superconducting quark matter can reproduce the mass and spin of pulsar J0952-0607, whereas the hadronic-only model cannot, and the revised Kepler-frequency relation tightens radius bounds.
