For the first time, we investigate the non-perturbative dynamics of single field inflation with a departure from slow-roll. Using simulations, we find that oscillatory features in the potential can drastically alter the course of inflation, with major phenomenological implications. In certain cases, the entire Universe gets trapped in a forever inflating de Sitter state. In others, only some regions get stuck in a false vacuum, offering an alternative channel for primordial black hole formation. Analogous to the flap of a butterfly, these results show that small-scale phenomena can have profound consequences on the evolution of the entire Universe. This demonstrates the necessity of a non-perturbative approach in the exploration of the small-scale physics of inflation, particularly in the regime relevant for gravitational-wave astronomy.

Nonlinear Lattice Framework for Inflation: Bridging stochastic inflation and the $\delta{N}$ formalism
A shear-free locally FLRW lattice framework for single-field inflation captures spatially varying expansion, curvature corrections, and nonlinear δN observables at a fraction of the cost of full numerical relativity.

Scale-Dependent Loop Corrections to the Inflationary Power Spectrum
One-loop gravitational corrections in inflationary models with scale-dependent features are renormalizable and vanish on large and small scales, preserving perturbativity of CMB-fit feature models.

How deep is the dip and how tall are the wiggles in inflationary power spectra?
In single-field PBH inflation models, a power-spectrum dip appears precisely when the inflaton velocity does not flip sign, and the peak amplitude scales as the inverse square of the dip amplitude.

Spectrum of third-order tensor perturbations induced by excited scalar fields
For exponentially amplified scalar modes during inflation, the third-order gravitational wave spectrum grows faster than the one-loop spectrum and dominates before the signal becomes detectable, breaking perturbation theory.

Quantitative classicality in cosmological interactions during inflation
For standard slow-roll interactions, the quantum off-shell contribution to the inflationary bispectrum becomes subdominant before horizon crossing, so classical evolution with quantum initial conditions is often sufficient.

Inflaton Dynamics in Higher-Derivative Scalar-Tensor Theories of Gravity
In the weakly coupled regime of a four-derivative scalar-tensor theory, large inflationary inhomogeneities decay just as in general relativity, and only finely tuned initial data can escape the effective field theory'...

Inflationary background renormalization
In single-field inflation, imposing a zero one-point function for the curvature perturbation leaves a finite, scheme-dependent one-loop correction to the two-point function that background renormalization cannot absorb.
