We present a model of leptogenesis that preserves lepton number. The model maintains the important feature of more traditional leptogenesis scenarios: the decaying particles that provide the CP violation necessary for baryogenesis also provide the explanation for the smallness of the neutrino Yukawa couplings. This model clearly demonstrates that, contrary to conventional wisdom, neutrinos need not be Majorana in nature in order to help explain the baryon asymmetry of the universe.

  1. Primordial Dirac Leptogenesis

    hep-ph 2025-11 conditional novelty 7.0 of 10

Baryogenesis can proceed via CP-violating inflaton decays that imprint an asymmetry in an inert Higgs doublet, which decays into Dirac neutrinos and is converted by sphalerons to the observed baryon asymmetry.

  2. Thermal Leptogenesis in the BNT Model of Neutrino Mass

    hep-ph 2026-08 conditional novelty 6.0 of 10

In the BNT neutrino-mass model, thermal leptogenesis can explain the observed baryon asymmetry with triplet masses above roughly 3.5e7 GeV in the hierarchical case and as low as 1.7 TeV with resonant enhancement.

  3. Electromagnetic Dirac Cogenesis

    hep-ph 2025-07 conditional novelty 5.0 of 10

A single out-of-equilibrium decay chain of heavy vector-like fermions via electromagnetic dipole operators can simultaneously generate the baryon asymmetry and an asymmetric dark matter relic with mass around 1.9 prot...
