In the framework of chiral perturbation theory virtual photons are included. We calculate the divergences of the generating functional to one loop and determine the structure of the local action that incorporates the counterterms which cancel the divergences. As an application we discuss the corrections to Dashen's theorem at order [e^2*m(quark)].

  1. Pion $\beta$ decay and $\tau\to\pi\pi\nu_\tau$ beyond leading logarithms

    hep-ph 2026-02 conditional novelty 7.0 of 10

Pion β decay and τ→ππν short-distance radiative corrections are matched at NLL accuracy with evanescent-scheme dependence cancelled, giving Δ_RC^{πℓ}=0.03403(11) and a τ-HVP isospin-breaking shift of −0.07(4)×10^-10.

  2. Novel method for determining the light quark mass ratio using $\eta'\to\eta \pi\pi$ decays

    hep-ph 2025-02 conditional novelty 7.0 of 10

A novel unit-disk mapping of Dalitz plots is used to extract the light quark mass ratio Q = 22.3 ± 0.7 from BESIII data on η′ → ηππ decays.

  3. Heavy meson chiral perturbation theory constraints on a charm-coupled GeV-scale QCD axion

    hep-ph 2026-07 conditional novelty 6.0 of 10

A charm-only QCD axion model passes a heavy-meson EFT consistency check, with its tightest bound coming from σ-mediated B_s mixing.

  4. Complete One-Loop Renormalization of the Higgs-Electroweak Chiral Lagrangian

    hep-ph 2019-07 unverdicted novelty 6.0 of 10

The complete one-loop renormalization of the EWChL is performed, confirming power counting assumptions and operator basis completeness while reproducing known subsector results.

  5. The Art of Counting: a reappraisal of the HEFT expansion

    hep-ph 2025-11 unverdicted novelty 5.0 of 10

HEFT admits two consistent power counting schemes, one with a single low-energy scale v and one with two scales v < f, each allowing systematic truncation of operators and amplitudes for any normalization choice.

  6. The anomalous magnetic moment of the muon in the Standard Model: an update

    hep-ph 2025-05 accept novelty 5.0 of 10

The updated SM prediction for the muon anomalous magnetic moment is 116592033(62)×10^{-11}, showing no tension with the experimental average of 38(63)×10^{-11}.

  7. The hadronic contribution to the running of $\alpha$ and the electroweak mixing angle

    hep-lat 2025-02 conditional novelty 5.0 of 10

A lattice QCD update computes the high-energy window of the hadronic vacuum polarization for the running of α and sin²θ_W with improved control of discretization errors.

  8. Semileptonic kaon decays and the precise determination of $V_{us}$

    hep-ph 2025-02 unverdicted novelty 2.0 of 10

A hybrid chiral perturbation theory and lattice QCD treatment of radiative corrections to kaon semileptonic decays is claimed to reach 10^-4 precision, yielding V_us = 0.22308(39)(39)(3) and sharpening the Cabibbo ang...
