We review, clarify, and extend the notion of color-flavor locking. We present evidence that for three degenerate flavors the qualitative features of the color-flavor locked state, reliably predicted for high density, match the expected features of hadronic matter at low density. This provides, in particular, a controlled, weak-coupling realization of confinement and chiral symmetry breaking in this (slight) idealization of QCD.

Relativistic Cooper pairing in the microscopic limit of chiral random matrix theory
A new non-Hermitian chiral random matrix model exhibits color-flavor locking for three flavors and the two-flavor color-superconducting phase for two flavors in the microscopic large-N limit.

Baryons, Skyrmions and $\theta$-periodicity anomaly in chiral and vector-like gauge theories
In chiral SU(N) gauge theories with mixed one- and two-index matter, the CFL-phase coset topology yields no Skyrmions yet permits stable heavy baryons protected by unbroken symmetries, unlike vector-like models; theta...

Classification of color superconductivity by one-gluon exchange helicity amplitudes and renormalization group equations
In dense QCD, the most attractive quark pairing channel is classified by helicity amplitudes and renormalization group equations, with a new p-wave (1P1) channel favored for symmetric flavor and attraction found in th...
