This paper presents a comprehensive review of both the theory and experimental successes of Quantum Chromodynamics, starting with its emergence as a well defined theory in 1972-73 and following developments and results up to the present day. Topics include a review of the earliest theoretical and experimental foundations; the fundamental constants of QCD; an introductory discussion of lattice QCD, the only known method for obtaining exact predictions from QCD; methods for approximating QCD, with special focus on effective field theories; QCD under extreme conditions; measurements and predictions of meson and baryon states; a special discussion of the structure of the nucleon; techniques for study of QCD at high energy, including treatment of jets and showers; measurements at colliders; weak decays and quark mixing; and a section on the future, which discusses new experimental facilities or upgrades currently funded. The paper is intended to provide a broad background for Ph.D. students and postdocs starting their career. Some contributions include personal accounts of how the ideas or experiments were developed.

  1. Single inclusive hadron and jet production in lepton-hadron scattering

    hep-ph 2026-07 conditional novelty 7.0

Single inclusive high-PT hadron and jet production in lepton-hadron scattering is factorized using a joint QCD+QED approach with universal lepton distribution functions, and predictions are given for JLab and EIC energies.

  2. Double-real corrections to color singlet decay in a parton-shower inspired scheme

    hep-ph 2026-06 unverdicted novelty 7.0

A parton-shower-inspired local subtraction scheme for double-real corrections in color singlet decays is introduced, with finiteness verified for the e+e- to qqbar remainder and phase-space integrals computed analytic...

  3. Nested-GPT for variable-multiplicity parton showers: A case study in the resummation of non-global logarithms

    hep-ph 2026-05 unverdicted novelty 7.0

Nested-GPT is an autoregressive Transformer surrogate that generates variable-multiplicity parton showers while enforcing ordered Markovian branching and matches reference Monte Carlo results for leading-log non-globa...

  4. Nested-GPT for variable-multiplicity parton showers: A case study in the resummation of non-global logarithms

    hep-ph 2026-05 unverdicted novelty 7.0

Nested-GPT is an autoregressive Transformer that dynamically generates variable-multiplicity parton showers matching Monte Carlo references for non-global logarithm resummation in the large-Nc limit.

  5. All-loop four-quark Bethe-Salpeter kernel

    hep-ph 2026-05 unverdicted novelty 7.0

The all-loop bare perturbative part of the four-quark Bethe-Salpeter kernel is computed analytically in the large-Nf limit of massless QCD.

  6. Hints for string breaking in QCD

    hep-lat 2026-07 conditional novelty 6.0

Direct measurement of chromo-electric flux-tube profiles in lattice QCD with physical quark masses indicates string breaking occurs at a quark-antiquark separation between 0.963 and 1.156 fm.

  7. Spin-dependent interactions and fine structure in the negative-parity singly heavy baryons

    hep-ph 2026-05 unverdicted novelty 6.0

A new two-step Gaussian expansion method enables high-precision calculation of fine structure in negative-parity singly heavy baryons via the relativized quark model, reproducing data to <5 MeV average deviation.

  8. Light tetraquark states with $J^{PC}=1^{--}$ from QCD sum rules

    hep-ph 2026-07 unverdicted novelty 5.0

QCD sum rules yield lowest masses of 1.53-2.34 GeV for light 1^{--} tetraquarks across isoscalar, isovector and isotensor sectors plus one 1^{-+} isotensor mass of 2.19 GeV.

  9. Phenomenology of genuine twist-three distributions from a global QCD analysis

    hep-ph 2026-07 unverdicted novelty 5.0

Global QCD analysis extracts genuine twist-three PDFs from g2, d2 and SIDIS asymmetries, confirming their universality and factorization validity.

  10. Gravitational form factors of light mesons from Basis Light-Front Quantization

    hep-ph 2026-05 unverdicted novelty 5.0

Gravitational form factors of pion and kaon are computed in BLFQ; A(Q^2) agrees with lattice QCD while D(Q^2) is enhanced at low Q^2 due to small-x and zero-mode sensitivity in the truncated model.

    hep-ph 2026-04 unverdicted novelty 5.0

Proposes jet correlation observables to discriminate QCD instanton processes from perturbative hard scattering in LHC pp collisions, with energy constraints derived from instanton size and separation calculations in 2...
