Using the implicit function theorem we demonstrate that solutions to the classical part of the relativistic Lippmann-Schwinger equation are in one-to-one correspondence with those of the energy equation of a relativistic two-body system. A corollary is that the scattering angle can be computed from the amplitude itself, without having to introduce a potential. All results are universal and provide for the case of general relativity a very simple formula for the scattering angle in terms of the classical part of the amplitude, to any order in the post-Minkowskian expansion.

    hep-th 2024-12 conditional novelty 8.0 of 10

A new 'quantum worldline' representation makes the classical limit of scattering amplitudes exactly match worldline field theory integrands at two loops.

  2. High-post-Newtonian-order dynamical effects induced by tail-of-tail interactions in a two body system

    gr-qc 2025-07 accept novelty 7.0 of 10

The paper derives 6.5PN tail-of-tail contributions to binary dynamics and finds agreement with independent self-force and worldline-EFT results.

  3. First Look at Quartic-in-Spin Binary Dynamics at Third Post-Minkowskian Order

    hep-th 2025-02 conditional novelty 7.0 of 10

The O(G^3) conservative and radiation-reaction classical observables for spinning black-hole scattering are extended to quartic order in spin, with all-order-in-spin radiation reaction beyond the aligned-spin limit.

  4. "Waveforms" at the Horizon

    gr-qc 2026-02 conditional novelty 6.0 of 10

A probe scattering off a Schwarzschild black hole transfers a definite leading-order post-Minkowskian angular momentum to the horizon, given by new closed formulas (3.24b), (3.29), (3.36).

  5. Scattering of a point mass by a Schwarzschild black hole: radiated energy and angular momentum

    gr-qc 2025-07 conditional novelty 6.0 of 10

The 5PM-1SF radiated energy and the complete 4PM-1SF radiated angular momentum to 7PN order are derived for a point mass scattering off a Schwarzschild black hole, along with the resulting 5PM radiation-reacted scatte...

  6. High Precision Black Hole Scattering: Tutti Frutti vs Worldline Effective Field Theory

    hep-th 2025-04 conditional novelty 6.0 of 10

The Tutti Frutti and Worldline Effective Field Theory formalisms agree for black hole scattering through fifth post-Minkowskian order, with new second-self-force predictions for two gauge-invariant observables.

  7. Strong Field Scattering of Black Holes: Assessing Resummation Strategies

    gr-qc 2024-11 conditional novelty 5.0 of 10

High-energy equal-mass black hole scattering data show that L-resummation, weob, and SEOB-PM models all develop pathological behavior, with NR-calibrated pseudo-5PM corrections and Padé-resummed EOB potentials offerin...
