Galight is a Python-based open-source package that can be used to perform two-dimensional model fitting of optical and near-infrared images to characterize the light distribution of galaxies with components including a disk, bulge, bar, and quasar. The decomposition of stellar components has been demonstrated in published studies of inactive galaxies and quasar host galaxies observed by the Hubble Space Telescope and Subaru's Hyper Suprime-Cam. Galight utilizes the image modeling capabilities of lenstronomy while redesigning the user interface for the analysis of large samples of extragalactic sources. The package is user-friendly with some automatic features such as determining the cutout size of the modeling frame, searching for PSF-stars in field-of-view, estimating the noise map of the data, identifying all the objects to set the initial model, and associated parameters to fit them simultaneously. These features minimize the manpower and allow the automatic fitting tasks. The software is distributed under the MIT license. The source code, installation guidelines, and example notebooks code can be found at https://galight.readthedocs.io/en/latest/

  1. Ram-pressure stripping caught in action in a young cluster at $z = 2.51$

    astro-ph.GA 2025-03 unverdicted novelty 8.0

ALMA observations reveal ram-pressure stripping in five galaxies at z=2.51, the most distant confirmed instances, indicating environmental gas removal in a protocluster.

  2. Anisotropic quenching beyond $z=1$ and its implications for preprocessing around high-redshift galaxy clusters

    astro-ph.GA 2026-06 unverdicted novelty 7.0

Anisotropic quenching is detected at the highest redshift yet and linked to preprocessing dominating over intrahalo effects by ~20% along the major axis in a delay-then-rapid quenching model informed by cluster accret...

  3. Subaru meets JWST: A Direct Measurement of Ly$\boldsymbol{\alpha}$ Escape Fraction at $\boldsymbol{z\simeq6.2}$ with Dual Narrow-Band Imaging

    astro-ph.GA 2026-07 conditional novelty 6.5

    Completeness-weighted stacking of 56 HAEs at z≃6.2 gives median f_esc^Lyα = 0.106^{+0.066}_{-0.044} with no strong Hα-luminosity dependence and UV-linked galaxy-to-galaxy trends.

  4. Physically motivated AGN emissivity profiles and their effects on quasar microlensing signatures. 1. Multi-epoch accretion disc size inference

    astro-ph.GA 2026-07 accept novelty 6.0

Interpreting composite disc-plus-BLR emission as a single compact disc systematically overestimates microlensing half-light radii, with the bias set mainly by the BLR flux fraction and the compact-disc emissivity shape.

  5. The UV Side of Little Red Dots: Red, Compact, and Iron-Enhanced Rest-UV Emission with a Strong Downturn around Ly$\alpha$

    astro-ph.GA 2026-06 unverdicted novelty 6.0

Analysis of ~100 JWST LRDs finds redder, compact UV emission with Fe II/Mg II ~8-10 and correlations suggesting central red continuum (β_UV~0) beyond host galaxy contribution.

  6. Kinematic Stratification in Extremely Red Quasars Revealed by JWST

    astro-ph.GA 2026-05 unverdicted novelty 6.0

JWST observations of ERQs show stratified gas kinematics via deblended optical emission lines, with UV lines dominated by scattered light and optical lines mixing scattered and obscured emission.
