Radiation reaction (RR) terms at the third post-Minkowskian (3PM) order have recently been found to be instrumental in restoring smooth continuity between the non-relativistic, relativistic, and ultra-relativistic (including the massless) regimes. Here we propose a new and intriguing connection between RR and soft (bremsstrahlung) theorems which short-circuits the more involved conventional loop computations. Although first noticed in the context of the maximally supersymmetric theory, unitarity and analyticity arguments support the general validity of this 3PM-order connection that we apply, in particular, to Einstein's gravity and to its Jordan-Brans-Dicke extension. In the former case we find full agreement with a recent result by Damour obtained through a very different reasoning.

  3. Memory effect from the scattering of Taub-NUT black holes

    hep-th 2026-03 conditional novelty 7.0 of 10

Soft theorems yield a gauge-invariant nutty soft factor and the associated memory tensor for Kerr-Taub-NUT scattering, with magnetic components and directional divergences absent in electromagnetism.

  4. Conservative Black Hole Scattering at Fifth Post-Minkowskian and Second Self-Force Order

    hep-th 2026-01 conditional novelty 7.0 of 10

The conservative black-hole scattering angle at fifth post-Minkowskian and second self-force order is computed in terms of K3 periods, but contains a coefficient fixed only by an ad hoc 'γ-3' prescription.

  5. Generalized Unitarity Method for Worldline Field Theory

    hep-th 2025-10 conditional novelty 7.0 of 10

Worldline gravitational observables can be bootstrapped from locality, unitarity, gauge invariance, and a soft theorem once worldline energies are complexified, reproducing the known O(G^5/2) waveform and O(G^3) on-sh...

  7. Higher-spin effects in black hole and neutron star binary dynamics: worldline supersymmetry beyond minimal coupling

    hep-th 2025-05 conditional novelty 7.0 of 10

By adding non-minimal couplings to a supersymmetric worldline model, the authors derive new higher-spin Hamiltonians, including an all-order-in-spin Kerr Hamiltonian in 4D and a cubic-in-spin Hamiltonian in arbitrary ...

    hep-th 2024-11 conditional novelty 7.0 of 10

A bosonic-oscillator worldline action for spinning compact bodies in general relativity is constructed, and it reproduces known post-Minkowskian scattering results while remaining valid to all orders in spin.

  10. "Waveforms" at the Horizon

    gr-qc 2026-02 conditional novelty 6.0 of 10
