Non-linear electrodynamics (NLED) theories are well-motivated extensions of QED in the strong field regime, and have long been studied in the search for regular black hole (BH) solutions. We consider two well-studied and well-motivated NLED models coupled to General Relativity: the Euler-Heisenberg model and the Bronnikov model. After carefully accounting for the effective geometry induced by the NLED corrections, we determine the shadows of BHs within these two models. We then compare these to the shadow of the supermassive BH M87* recently imaged by the Event Horizon Telescope collaboration. In doing so, we are able to extract upper limits on the black hole magnetic charge, thus providing novel constraints on fundamental physics from this new extraordinary probe.

Evaporating cosmologically coupled black holes
If a black hole's mass grows with cosmic expansion, Hawking evaporation is slowed or reversed, weakening gamma-ray bounds on primordial black holes.

Spinning Particle Dynamics and Observational Redshift around an Asymptotically Flat Symmergent Black Hole
For a black hole in symmergent gravity, the sign of the boson-fermion imbalance determines whether particle and photon observables deviate from Schwarzschild smoothly (fermion-dominated) or in an oscillatory pattern (...

Regular black holes with Minkowskian cores: causal structure and observational degeneracy
Regular black holes with Minkowskian cores constructed by gravitational decoupling produce shadows and accretion-disk images nearly indistinguishable from Kerr/Schwarzschild despite radically different interiors.

Scalarization of Einstein-Euler-Heisenberg black hole with multiple horizons
Stable, positive-mass scalarized EEH black holes exist only in an intermediate primary-scalar-charge window for low/cold horizons and above a lower bound for hot horizons.

Negative potential-induced scalarization in the Einstein-Euler-Heisenberg black hole
A single branch of scalarized Einstein-Euler-Heisenberg black holes is constructed numerically, found to be thermodynamically disfavored and dynamically unstable for all magnetic charges.

Shadow constraints of charged black hole with scalar hair and gravitational waves from extreme mass ratio inspirals
EHT shadow data constrain the EMCS black hole charge and scalar hair to about 0.1 and 0.01 levels, while LISA EMRI waveforms could reach 0.01 and 0.0001 levels.

Analytical Study of Deflection Angle and Time Delay in Kerr Spacetime with Modified Propagation
The paper asserts analytic strong-lensing deflection and time-delay formulas for Kerr black holes with Weyl-modified photon propagation, but the derivation is incomplete and internally inconsistent.

Optical and orbital characterization of spherically symmetric static black holes of self-gravitating new nonlinear electrodynamics model
PINLED Y^n black holes have charge-driven inward shifts of photon sphere, shadow, and ISCO, with null-geodesic observables distinguishing them from RN more clearly than timelike ones.

Thermodynamics and Shadows of Kerr black holes endowed with a global monopole charge
The authors derive shadow and thermodynamic quantities for a Kerr-like metric with a global monopole term in Δ, and claim EHT observations constrain the monopole charge α.

Quasinormal Modes of Schwarzschild Black Holes in the Dehnen-(1, 4, 5/2) Type Dark Matter Halos
Quasinormal mode frequencies of a Schwarzschild black hole in a Dehnen-(1,4,5/2) dark matter halo are computed and found to decrease as halo density or core radius increases, with stability preserved.
