abstract

The all sky surveys done by the Palomar Observatory Schmidt, the European Southern Observatory Schmidt, and the United Kingdom Schmidt, the InfraRed Astronomical Satellite and the 2 Micron All Sky Survey have proven to be extremely useful tools for astronomy with value that lasts for decades. The Wide-field Infrared Survey Explorer is mapping the whole sky following its launch on 14 December 2009. WISE began surveying the sky on 14 Jan 2010 and completed its first full coverage of the sky on July 17. The survey will continue to cover the sky a second time until the cryogen is exhausted (anticipated in November 2010). WISE is achieving 5 sigma point source sensitivities better than 0.08, 0.11, 1 and 6 mJy in unconfused regions on the ecliptic in bands centered at wavelengths of 3.4, 4.6, 12 and 22 microns. Sensitivity improves toward the ecliptic poles due to denser coverage and lower zodiacal background. The angular resolution is 6.1, 6.4, 6.5 and 12.0 arc-seconds at 3.4, 4.6, 12 and 22 microns, and the astrometric precision for high SNR sources is better than 0.15 arc-seconds.

DiskMINT-GARDEN: Self-consistent Models to Estimate Disk Masses

astro-ph.EP · 2026-06-24 · unverdicted · novelty 7.0

A new grid of disk models with grain-surface CO chemistry plus an ML inference tool produces gas mass estimates from ALMA observations that match independent dynamical and HD values without requiring extreme elemental depletion.

A Population of Little Red Dot-like Quasars in SDSS

astro-ph.GA · 2026-06-24 · unverdicted · novelty 7.0

Defines a sample of ~1300 SDSS quasars as Local Red Dots matching LRD photometric colors at z~0.4-0.8, with a V-shaped subset showing Balmer absorption and [NeV] emission, and SEDs modeled as reddened AGN plus host galaxy that match LRD stacks.

Minimal Proton-Mass Dark Matter

hep-ph · 2026-06-18 · unverdicted · novelty 7.0

A minimal dark matter model with one complex scalar carrying B and L numbers, stabilized by proton stability, with mass near the proton mass and relic density from UV freeze-in.

(LRDs)$^2$: The Low-ReDshift Little Red Dots Survey. II. DESI DR1 Sample

astro-ph.GA · 2026-05-20 · unverdicted · novelty 7.0

The survey identifies 27 low-redshift LRDs with compact morphology, V-shaped continua, broad Balmer lines with extreme decrements, and ubiquitous outflows, matching high-z counterparts and yielding a number density lower limit of 7.5e-10 cMpc^-3.

Tracing Active Galactic Nuclei Properties Through a Changing-look Event

astro-ph.GA · 2026-04-08 · unverdicted · novelty 7.0

A changing-look AGN exhibits a rapid accretion-driven spectral transition with broad-line region temperatures of approximately 11,800 K measured via Boltzmann plots and stable black hole mass estimates of 5 times 10 to the 7 solar masses across epochs.

The functional form of galaxy and halo luminosity and mass functions

astro-ph.GA · 2026-04-25 · unverdicted · novelty 7.0

Exhaustive symbolic regression identifies low-complexity functional forms for luminosity and mass functions that outperform Schechter and Press-Schechter parametrizations while satisfying physical extrapolation and integration constraints.
